At Shine Speech Therapy, therapy is personalized to each child. We use evidence-based, play-based, and neurodiversity affirming approaches to create meaningful opportunities for communication and connection. Sessions are guided by each child’s strengths, interests, and individual needs, with families involved every step of the way.

Our Approach

Evaluations

An evaluation is the first step in getting to know your child and understanding how they communicate. It gives us the opportunity to build rapport, learn about your child’s strengths and needs, and hear what matters most to your family.

Evaluations are individualized to each child and may include play, observation, caregiver discussion, language samples, and standardized assessments when appropriate. We’ll take the time to see your child as a whole and understand how they communicate in ways that feel natural to them.

After the evaluation, we’ll walk through our findings together and discuss recommendations and next steps. If therapy is recommended, we’ll work together to create meaningful goals and a personalized plan to support your child’s communication.

Our Specialties

Speech Sound Disorders

Is your child difficult to understand, having trouble producing certain sounds, or using patterns that make their speech harder to understand?

We support children with articulation and phonological disorders as well as Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS) using individualized, evidence-based approaches. Therapy is tailored to your child’s specific speech patterns and needs, with opportunities to practice through engaging, meaningful activities. Our goal is to help children communicate more clearly while building confidence in their ability to express themselves.

Gestalt Language Processing

Does your child use echolalia, scripting, or longer phrases that seem to come from favorite shows, books, or familiar routines?

They may be a Gestalt Language Processor!

We’ll follow your child’s lead, listen closely to understand what their gestalts mean, and provide meaningful language models that support their communication development. Our goal is to support the development of self-generated language while honoring the way your child naturally communicates.

Early Intervention

Is your little one having trouble communicating, using words, or letting you know what they want and need?

Early intervention supports children from birth to 3 years old as they develop early communication and language skills. If your little one is using few or no words, having difficulty communicating their wants and needs, or you’re simply wondering if their communication is on track, you don’t have to wait and wonder.

Through play, everyday routines, and following your child’s interests, we’ll create natural opportunities for communication while supporting their unique development and giving you practical strategies to carry into everyday life.
