If you have questions or concerns about your child’s communication, it’s always okay to reach out. You may notice that your child is difficult to understand, uses fewer words than expected, has trouble expressing their wants and needs, or communicates in ways that leave you wondering if they’re on track.

Every child develops differently, and an evaluation can help you better understand your child’s individual strengths and communication needs. You don’t have to wait until you’re certain that something is wrong, we’re happy to talk through your concerns and help you determine whether an evaluation or additional support would be beneficial.

Shine Speech Therapy provides pediatric speech and language services for children from birth through 18 years.

Early intervention services are available for children ages 0–3, with support tailored to each child’s developmental stage and communication needs.

Therapy is provided in your child’s natural environment, including in-home, daycare, and community settings throughout Orange County. Virtual therapy is also available when appropriate.

Serving Irvine and surrounding Orange County communities, we strive to make therapy convenient and meaningful by bringing services into the environments where your child lives, plays, and communicates.

An evaluation is an opportunity to get to know your child, learn about their communication strengths and needs, and determine whether speech-language therapy may be beneficial.

Depending on your child’s age and needs, the evaluation may include play-based observation, caregiver discussion, language samples, and standardized assessments when appropriate. Following the evaluation, we’ll review our findings together and discuss recommendations and next steps.

Therapy sessions are typically 45 or 60 minutes, depending on your child’s individual needs and recommended plan of care. Session length and frequency will be discussed with you following the evaluation or initial therapy appointment.

A physician referral is not required to begin private-pay services. However, your insurance or funding source may have specific referral or authorization requirements. We recommend confirming these requirements before beginning services.

Shine Speech Therapy is currently in-network with Cigna. For other insurance plans, services are provided on a private-pay basis as an out-of-network provider. Depending on your plan, you may be eligible for out-of-network reimbursement.

Because coverage varies by insurance plan, we recommend contacting your insurance provider before beginning services to confirm your benefits, reimbursement options, and any referral or authorization requirements.

A superbill is a detailed statement of services that can be submitted to your insurance company when seeking potential out-of-network reimbursement.

Shine Speech Therapy can provide a superbill upon request. Because reimbursement varies by insurance plan, we recommend contacting your provider to understand your out-of-network benefits before beginning services.

We understand that things come up! If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please provide 24 hours notice whenever possible. Cancellations or missed appointments with less than the required notice may be subject to a cancellation fee.

That’s okay! Shine Speech Therapy can collaborate with other professionals involved in your child’s care, with your permission. When appropriate, collaboration can help create consistency across your child’s different environments and support their communication throughout the day.
